Garmin continues to build up its nüvi 7xx series portableGPS navigators with its nüvi 755T, which adds a number of handy routing and communication features to an already impressive list of specs, including a 4.3-inch widescreen display, text-to-speech capabilities, media player, and FM transmitter for transmitting audio--including directions and MP3 music and audiobooks--from the device to your car radio.New to the nüvi 7x5 lineup is Garmin's HotFix satellite prediction (which locates your position quickly and precisely), Lane Assist (which provides lane guidance and junction views when possible), automatic time zone transitioning, and 3D Building views as well as Garmin Connect Photos to help you visually ascertain your position. Additionally, the nüvi 755T includes free real-time traffic updates from Navteq (for the life of the device) via the included GTM 20 traffic receiver. The bright, 4.3-inch touchscreen display gives is anti-glare for ease of viewing during the day and automatically changes its color profile for easy viewing at night or in dim light. It offers 2d or 3D perspective views. The widescreen format gives you 70 percent more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.

Navigation takes a high-tech turn with nüvi 755T, featuring lane assist. This feature guides you to the proper lane for navigation. nüvi 755T also includes preloaded maps, turn-by-turn directions that call out streets by name and lifetime traffic. Like the rest of the nüvi 705-series, this advanced navigator comes with premium features including 3-D building view, photo navigation, faster screen redraws, route planning, emergency and car locators and much more.

Find Yourself, Your Car
Keep track of yourself and your car with nüvi 755T. Just tap the "Where Am I?" emergency locator to find the closest hospitals, police stations, fuel stations, nearest address and intersection. Also see your exact latitude and longitude coordinates. nüvi 755T even remembers where you parked. Perfect for unfamiliar spots and crowded lots such as amusement parks, stadiums and malls.

With route planning you can save 10 routes, specify via points and preview simulated turns on the 755T's wide screen. In addition, nüvi 755T automatically sorts multiple destinations to provide an efficient route for errands, deliveries or sales calls. It also displays speed limits for highways and Interstates. A trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you've been on the map.

"Do Not Buy to Use in Nova Scotia" 2010-09-06
By Stephen L. Shapiro (Ohio)
I bought this Garmin especially for our trip to Nova Scotia. Numerous times it took me off of the main road onto a side road that eventually got back onto the main road, many of them dirt roads. Going from Baddeck to Cheticamp it took us off the main road and onto a dirt road that directed us to go on no more than a hiking path. We lost over 1 hour as the Garmin took us in circles!! It got to the point we had to use a map as back up as we did not trust the Garmin. The key pad was also difficult to type on and many times we did not hit the right letter.

 "nuvi 755T" 2010-09-05
By mdk3
The nuvi 755 is a worthy successor to the nuvi 660 we had been using. Unfortunately, it is lacking in one feature that the 660 had; namely, the ability to set vehicle size, to avoid twisty, tight-turned, and narrow roads. The start-up is also a touch slower with the internal antenna than with the 660's flip-out antenna. Overall, though, an excellent navigating tool.

 "First GPS" 2010-08-31
By AUGUST MILLER (SCOTTSDALE, AZ United States)
This was my first GPS and I have nothing to compare it to. It powered up quickly and appears to do everything it is supposed to. I've used it in Montana, Wyoming and Kentucky as well as my home state of AZ. I'll use it in CA this coming week and will see if the Traffic router works. I had difficulty trying to pre-program destinations in other states ahead of time and just gave up and waited until I got there.

"A big disappointment after my Nuvi 350" 2010-08-30
By James H. Manning (Washington, DC)
I bought the Garmin nüvi 755 as a replacement for my 3 year old Garmin nüvi 350, which I had loved. I had hoped to take advantage of new features in the 755, including traffic updates and an updated map.

Unfortunately, this unit suffers from a couple of flaws that make it much less satisfactory to use than my previous nüvi 350. For one thing, the screen seems slow to respond to touch, and no matter how careful I am, it's easy to mistype information. So, I find myself constantly having to hit the "erase" key to re-enter addresses.

The other issue is that the traffic update feature is pretty useless. It seems to be unaware of major traffic jams in the Washington, DC area. When traffic is normal, it seems wildly optimistic of travel times, constantly adding minutes to the expected arrival time - even when I am able to drive the entire trip at posted speeds.

The first unit I bought died after a few days (bad battery), so I exchanged it. Unfortunately, the second unit had the same issues with the touch screen and traffic updates, and only marginally better battery life.

Traffic routing seems accurate and decent. Unfortunately, because of the difficult to use touch screen and inaccurate travel times/traffic updates, I hesitate to recommend it.
